I will try to add some of the surnames that are in the family tree, knowing well that I won’t get them all. Starting with great great Grandpa Ernst and Grandma Sophie Bollwitt, their children were in order of birth: Wilhelmina (Mrs. Herman Poppen/Charles Lentz); August and Sarah Smith Bollwitt; Sophie (Mrs. Lewis Rueter or Reuter); Johanna (Mrs. Andrew Krug); Charlotta ‘Lottie’ (Mrs. August Blenkle); Ernst and Marie Klusmann Bollwitt; Amelia ‘Mollie’ (Mrs. Ernest Spindler); Dora (Mrs. Frank Roebke); Marie (Mrs. Richard Blum).

August and Sarah Smith Bollwitt (our great grandparents) had the following children in order of birth: Ernest and Sadie Gill Bollwitt; Anna (Mrs. Charles Snowardt); August ‘Gus’ and Gladys Gill Bollwitt; Carl and Millie Tagel Bollwitt; Fred ‘Fritz’ Bollwitt; John and Anna Roesch Bollwitt; Frank and Marcella Emsick Bollwitt; George Bollwitt; Mary Rose Dorothena Bollwitt.

I won’t try to list all the surnames beyond the above, but a couple from each family are Cramer, Young, Scott, Babutzke, Woeppel, Wagman, Pruden, Kaczor, Reiling, Garmann, Hunter, Wederski.

If you are able to search for your surname and come to this blog, please leave us a comment. We would love to have this be an instrument of reaching more descendants of Ernst and Sophie Bollwitt.         Shirley

Snowardt or Blum or Blenkle, etc.

Did I ask you about what if anything you found out about the reunion page and getting search engines to find it readily if they are searching for Blum, Blenkle, Krug, Pruden, Roebke, Snowardt, Spindler, Thramer, etc.   I went back and added all the married names so that if there was a chance of a distant relative doing a search for their name, they might find our information.   I don’t think we talked about this again, but if so – forgive my short memory.   I’ve Googled some of the names, and unless I have Bollwitt, it doesn’t pull anything up.   Shirley

Shirley, Let us see if putting names in the blog area, (here), will start the search engines being able to find this. And, if possible we might get john to update this WordPress software. — Duaine

March Madness

March 20th, 2009 Josie Bollwitt No comments

We have three birthdays in March.  It starts on the 10th with Anthony, the 14th is Matt’s, and today, the 20th is Julia’s.  We normally celebrate it with a meal at my house where everyone gathers for the special days, but this year March brought a new twist.

Sometime in mid February my  90 year old Mom cracked her tail bone and she went into the hospital on the 26th of Feb.  By March 3rd she had a procedure done to repair the damaged tail bone and we moved her to a nursing home that offered skilled nursing.  The trauma left all of us a bit shaken when we had to leave her in a facility that often represents the end of life’s joruney.  Today my sister, brother, and I feel it was the best thing we could have done for Mom as she is recovering nicely with an optimistic feeling of returning to her home.

Duaine and I drove to K.C. on the 27th. I stayed  with Mom when Duaine returned home the day after placement.  I returned to Iowa on the 18th.   Mike and Julia surprised me by meeting me for lunch at the O’Hare Airport . What more could I have asked for as they filled up my 3 hour layover.

Here’s a few pictures of my March Birthday People and a few I took when I was in K.C.

Thank you John for cleaning up the Reunion page.  Looks much better, and I like the addition of the map.   If I add more, you’ll need to check back and clean it up again.  :)     Shirley
