This is the information page for the Bollwitt family reunion that was held in Ewing, Nebraska on June 20, 2009.
This reunion welcomed descendants of Ernst (1835) and Sophie Bollwitt. It was hosted by the descendants of August (1860-1939) and Sarah (Smith) Bollwitt, specifically the grandchildren of Carl (1893-1949) and Millie (Tagel) Bollwitt. Great Grandpa August’s siblings were Wilhelmina ‘Minnie’, August was next oldest, then Sophie (Mrs. Lewis Rueter), Johanna ‘Honey’ (Mrs. Andrew Krug), Charlotta ‘Lottie’ (Mrs. August Blenkle), Ernest (wife – Marie), Amelia ‘Mollie’ (Mrs. Ernst Spindler), Dora (Mrs. Frank Roebke) and Marie (Mrs. Richard Blum). Pictures and history on these families was displayed at the reunion with the family tree. We will try to put some of that information on this page for those that would like to get the information.
Grandpa Carl Bollwitt’s siblings were Ernest Bollwitt(wife – Sadie), Anna (Mrs. Charles Snowardt), August ‘Gus’ Bollwitt (wife – Gladys), Fred ‘Fritz’ Bollwitt, John Bollwitt (wife – Anna), Frank Bollwitt(wife – Marcella), George Bollwitt and Mary Rose Dorthena Bollwitt.
According to the Registration Book, we had 85 people in attendance at the reunion. Those attending were from Nebraska, Iowa, Colorado, Minnesota and South Dakota.
The oldest relative attending the reunion was Victor Carl ‘Vic’ Bollwitt. He will be 91 years old on July 02, 2009. He is the son of Carl and Millie (Tagel) Bollwitt. August and Sarah Bollwitt were his grandparents. He spent many hours with them growing up. His great grandparents were Ernst and Sophie Bollwitt.
The youngest family member present was Niall Hunter of Littleton, Colorado, two years old. He is the great grandson of Verlee (Bollwitt) Kermmoade; great great grandson of John and Anna Bollwitt. Isaac Hoffman; son of Brian and Jessica Hoffman of Brunswick, NE; grandson of Linda (Bollwitt) Wingate; great grandson of Richard Bollwitt, was also two years of age.
It was wonderful to meet relatives we didn’t know before and get reacquainted with those we knew in childhood. It brought back such memories as those summers when we as cousins shared time together in the hot hayfields.
Pictures taken that day can be uploaded to a site that is created for sharing the reunion photos that you were able to capture. It is a site that is for both viewing for enjoyment or ordering your own photos for your albums. This is found at http://bollwittfamilyreunion.shutterfly.com/ If you upload your own photos, you will need to create your own account. Be sure to save the photos to your own album that you can create and label as you desire.
It was decided at the reunion to plan to hold another reunion of the Bollwitt Family in June, 2012, in Ewing, Nebraska.
